The opening reception will offer food and beverages in an open house style with an opportunity to meet the mural artists, located at the Black Arts and Cultural Center, 359 S. Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 102. Opening reception remarks begin at 7:30pm and multiple sitting or standing volunteer opportunities are available. Duties would include helping set up, greeting guests, cleaning up, and tending to the overall needs of the event. Please email Kim Shaw with any questions and thank you for your consideration.

Work with and support an ACGK staff member with sharing information about the mural festival and selling merch at the information tent. There is a sitting or standing option for volunteering at the tent. Please email Kim Shaw with any questions and thank you for your consideration.
Imagine That! Community Art Project Volunteers
Imagine That! Community Art Project
Imagine That! is a Louise Nevelson inspired community project. Volunteers will support participants to glue small wood pieces and found objects to a 10” x 10” wood piece. Once constructed, they will spray paint the whole piece with one chosen color of water-based spray paint. These items will be collected and displayed together at the festival’s closing reception at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts on Sunday Sept. 7, 11 AM – 1 PM. This is a standing volunteer position and may require lifting of projects and materials. Please email Kim Shaw with any questions and thank you for your consideration.

The Brush the Block Closing Reception will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, 11 AM to 1 PM at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, 314 S. Park Street.
During this closing event we will thank and highlight all that came together to make Brush the Block an incredible festival, including the mural artists, sponsors, partners, volunteers, the City of Kalamazoo, and many more!
The remarks will be begin at 11:45 AM followed by the big reveal of Imagine That!, our Community Public Art Project. Food and beverages will be provided, and the galleries will be open to the public beginning at 12:00 PM. Sitting and standing volunteer positions available. These opportunities include set up, clean up, greeting guest and overall attending to the needs of our guests. Please email Kim Shaw with any questions and thank you for your consideration.
